Clark and North Routt County, or “North Routt” s a rural community of around 800 residents, situated roughly 20 miles north of Steamboat Springs. Getting here from Steamboat area involves a scenic 35-minute drive along the Elk River and up County Road 129.
North Routt features two distinct communities with rural areas and subdivisions in between. Clark is closest to Steamboat and features North Routt Charter School, the Clark Store and Deli, Post Office, and Glen Eden Resort and Restaurant with the Elk River flowing through. Nearby ranch properties and smaller subdivisions are typically bordered by vast National Forest.
Hahn’s Peak is about 10 minutes north with its namesake peak towering above and Steamboat Lake State Park right next door. This is an old mining village and also has a couple of restaurants and gas station surrounded by National Forest.
Outdoor enthusiasts thrive in North Routt, and this may be the best place for recreation in all of Routt County. Steamboat Lake State Park stands out with its ideal conditions for angling, boating, and trail explorations circling the 2,800-acre lake under the shadow of Hahns Peak. Several national forest access points lead to miles of trails for hiking in the Zirkel Wilderness, biking, dirt biking, hunting, and off roading. In the winter there is no better place to go snowmobiling or backcountry touring. In the summer the Elk River offers non-stop rapids and amazing fishing when the water levels recede.
Potential home buyers will find single-family homes on small lots in the Willow Creek Pass neighborhood and Hahn’s Peak Village starting in the $500ks. For 5+ acres and larger ranch properties, the prices will likely start around $1m and go up from there.
